Day 57

Sunday, July 8 -

We were all pretty fried from the sun yesterday, so we gave the beach a break for the afternoon. We walked about the city for awhile and saw the famous churches and other important buildings.

Sagrada de Familia
Very detailed design
Apparently it's always under construction and it's never going to be completed
Another famous 'Casa de' but I can't remember which one
A pretty fountain in the middle of a huge intersection
People playing music
Street art or cave paintings on some building
Barcino! Latin for Barcelona.
Another cathedral
Streets of Barcelona
Palm trees!
Some cool sculpture
Ocean and boats
After our walk we went back to our hostel and tanned on the roof. They had pools up there, which were really small, but it was perfect for tanning and looking over the whole city! On one side you could see the ocean and on the other you could see the mountains. We took a group photo and we were having trouble deciding which would look best in the background. We settled on the city because we didn't want the girl taking the picture to have to get up and move.

We went back to the beach in the evening to lay out and have a picnic dinner. We went cheap and got McDonald's, so I've now eaten it in four different countries! We stayed until the sun set, but unfortunately it didn't set over the water so it wasn't as pretty as it could have been.

Beach!
The sun going down behind us
My new beach towel!
Mediterranean Sea

The view of the shore from out on some dock
Sunset
One of our friends left back to London that night, so there were only three of us. The hostel only had rooms in twos (no odd numbers per room) so we cheated and slept three in a two bed. Maybe not the most comfortable option but it was definitely much cheaper!
