Day 58

Monday, July 9 -

We left Barcelona in the morning. It was very sad and I wanted to jump out of the plane and go back to the beach.

The view from the plane
Then we arrived back in rainy, cold London. That was disappointing. It took forever to get through border control. They have two lines, one of EU and UK citizens, and then one for everyone else. Of course the EU/UK line goes super fast and the other one doesn't really move at all. And of course it was afternoon, so some people in the all passports line decided to go take their lunch break. Not appreciated. We inched along slowly and my friend and I decided there should be a carnival ride once you get through to make the wait worth it. We finally got through and ended up being about an hour late to class.

In class we did this thing called murder ballads. We broke into groups and got assigned a murder ballad (a poem/song about a murder, written hundreds of years ago). We had to make props and costumes out of newspaper and then adapt the murder ballad however we want and act out the plot in front of the class. It was fun, and the acts were very amusing, but I would have rather been in Barcelona.

After that we went on a tour of the Guardian. The editor guy who gave the tour used to be a columnist for the Global Journalist at Mizzou. He was really nice and informative but he was probably the least animated person in the world, so I found the whole tour slightly on the boring side. Again, I would have rather been in Barcelona. But after the tour I went and saw platform 9 and 3/4!!! The spot where it was filmed and the spot where they have the sign hanging up are not the same. That was a little disappointing and so was the fact that you can't actually run through the wall and go to Hogwarts.

Going to Hogwarts!
