Day 47

Thursday, June 28 -

Today was another pretty slow day at work. I was assigned to Eurovision all day, so I had that to keep me busy every so often. I was adventurous and went outside of the building to lunch again! For the second day in a row!

The highlight of the day was being in the newsroom during breaking news. The Supreme Court voted to uphold the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act. We had all the TV's on in the newsroom waiting for the verdict. CBS had a live reporter in Washington, and she tried to report the results while reading the report, and while she did a good job, it was painful to watch. I wanted to yell at whoever was producing to switch cameras for about 20 seconds to give her a chance to actually read the report bfore being live on air. CNN really messed it up, because they chose first over accurate and reported the mandate was struck down.

The other stations were reporting the mandate had been upheld so for about 60 seconds everyone was really confused. A few minutes later, CNN wiped the all tickers from their newscast and then replaced them all with the correct news. Being first means nothing if you're wrong!
