Day 30

Monday, June 11 -

Today was the day where we did the class part of the class trip. We were supposed to meet at the Missouri Offices, which was across the city. No one wanted to pay for the Metro, or go into a Metro station in the part of town we were in, so we walked it. Hike would actually be the more appropriate verb to use in this situation. It turned out to be an hour walk, uphill the entire way. Like steep hills, too. Thanks to my awesome navigation skills, but mostly google maps, we made it there right on time!

University of Missouri - Belgium ?!
Once we got there the guy who teaches the Brussels study abroad group lectured about the history of the European Union and what it does and stuff. It was very interesting! He also gave us coffee. Then we applied our knowledge and actually went to the EU Parliament building.

After that we continued our educational experience and went on a tour of the Cantillon Brewery. They make beer at the speed of nature. The inside was very old fashioned and outdated, but everything had a purpose. The guy giving the tour said they don't kill the spiders in there because they eat the bugs, and they don't want to spray for bugs because the chemicals will get in the beer. They also only brew in the winter because there are less bacteria in the air. It was all very 'one with nature.'

Then we hopped back on the train and headed back to home, sweet home, London!
