Day 35

Saturday, June 16 -

I went to Tate Modern to see the Damien Hirst exhibition. I forgot to bring my camera with me, but no pictures were allowed anyway. He has this thing with dead animals because there were a lot of them. There were dead sharks, a cow and calf cut in half so you could see their insides, and several sheep just suspended in formaldehyde. The grossest one was some display with a bunch of flies just living in this box with a severed cow head just sitting on the floor. The weirdest part was this dead cow's head was just bleeding all over the actual floor of the museum. I don't know what the museum is planning to do when the exhibition is over, because there will just be a huge blood spain in the middle of their floor.

If you look straight into the shark's mouth you could see all the way into it.

He is also pretty big on butterflies. There was a room of live butterflies flying around and several other pieces that were like mosaics of butterfly wings. They were actually really cool!

He also has this awesome skull made out of diamonds. The skull is a replica of some skull from the 1800s, but it has real human teeth. It was in this completely dark room, so the only thing lit up was this skull right in the center. It was pretty cool.

Now that I've been in London for a little over a month, I finally had fish and chips! They were from some little restaurant by the river, and they change their specials daily so it was freshly made and delicious!

Keeping up my British spirit, I finally broke down and bought some tea.

Tea time!
